This post will cover what is happening in  OCB in regards to mods over the next few weeks.

Firstly RHS has been released and is likely to become our primary mod, after AE and the OCB mod that is.

It does total a whopping 2.4 gig worth of new content which is of excellent quality.

Please do not be put off by the size of this mod as it will be replacing many of out current mods.

We are plannign on phasing out a number of mods in light of upcoming engine and mod updates.

Here is a list of mods, set to become redundant:

  • RDS tanks
  • SUD Russians
  • SUF (Swedish armed forces)
  • HAFAM Arma 2 Helis
  • HAFAM Helis HMD upgrade
  • STI A10
  • lkr ammo
  • RH M4's and M16's
  • STI machineguns, Launchers etc
  • Eric J's Weapons
  • m1a1 abrams
  • DAR Humvees
  • A3MP (see below)

A3MP vs AiA

What it is?

A3MP and AiA are essentially the same mod but there are crucial differences to be noted.

First off let me make absolutely crystal clear to everyone that you should be able to play as per normal using the A3MP pack FOR NOW. It is preferable that yoou switch to AiA but it is not an absolute requirement just yet.

How is it similar?

Both packs include the old arma 2 content, which includes buildings, terrains and objects. They also allow for arma 2 custom maps to be played.

How are they different?

AiA has been in development for much longer and the Bi thread is still active with news and updates. AiA has been heavily optimized and has most of the config errors resolved. A3MP however is known to generate up to around 500 lines off error messages on the server and your client before boots have hit the deck; this compared to AiA's casual 10 to 50.

AiA also has the added benefit of having sahrahni already built into the mod. This version does also include arma 3 building replacements so the previously unenterable buildings are now the shiny new arma 3 buildings.

AiA also contains many morebug fixes for various maps such as texture tearing and the infamous pond glitches.

More important bug fixes include a reworked colision map for nearly every arma 2 object and building, which should mean no more bullet proof leaves and paper thin concrete walls.

AiA objects should also be zeus compatible

AiA map lighting has also been tweaked

Most importantly though, the AiA trees make a sound when they fall over

all i'll say is what i'v been saying for the last few months - wait untill the DLC is out before making any big decisions.

I personally wont be downloading RHS until after the mod is updated and compatible with the DLC, same for the AIA update.

The A-10, Really?

That wont be phased out... The US Senate has been wanting to get rid of that freedom delivery platform for years now with no luck.

Thanks for the update Dash.

What is the plan for Arma Extended v AGM?

The latest version of AGM (v0.94.1) has a number of important bug fixes, one of which is required to make stable no re-spawn tacs:

(.... not to mention a dead man's switch for explosives! ;))

That's the plan Stryker. Waiting on rhs to release their humvees. Might even keep the Dar ones depending on the rhs quality

RHS has an A-10

I've seen that, but haven't tested the RHS A-10.

Does it have the service menu for loadouts like the STI version?

Speaking of Humvees, has anyone had a look at these. The fact they have functioning doors (which you can use as cover) and other varants like the ambulance (which actually has an interior that you can lay casualties down in. The quality seems good also.

Note they have updated the textures from the ones in the video, but you will get the idea.

Those are a serious upgrade from the shitty ports he released, which is why we currently have the DAR humvees
