Some may already know that I've made a spin off from PO2 called Spec Ops. Based off the framework but I essentially want change the dynamics from patrol ops. (Completely new style of gameplay)
Posted Image
So far they have been ported for the following maps:
  • Hazar Kot Valley - US ARMY SPECIAL FORCES (Green Berets)
  • Aliabad Region - US ARMY SPECIAL FORCES (Green Berets)
  • Tora Bora - US ARMY SPECIAL FORCES (Green Berets) and 160th SOAR
  • Sangin - US NAVY SEALS
Future Versions:
  • UK ARMY SPECIAL FORCES (UKSF)
  • Kommando Spezialkräfte (KSK)
  • Possible: Ardvark SASR
Features
  • Mainly Convoy ops. (Ground movement)
  • SF orientated tasks.
  • Ambient Combat - You are behind enemy lines. (You will in most cases be out numbered so pick your fights carefully)
  • Tier Two Operators
  • More IED types (Making 86 proud)
  • Fun - lots of people to shoot at and get shot at from.
  • Practical application of training and provides experience. (eg. Situational Awareness, team movement etc.)
  • Smaller scale than Patrol Ops, allows a more immersive experience and environment.
  • Dynamic enemies, they will not just be in one location at the AO.
ModsFuture Priorities:
  • High - More custom SF missions (Currently modified PO2 missions)
  • High - Specialised Ammo box
  • High - Addition of Secops manager.
  • Med - Various SF factions. (SAS, KSK, ACR)
  • Med - Support Via radio (Air stikes, artillery etc.)
  • Low - Support for custom weapon packs.
  • Low - Window of opportunity. (Time limits)
  • Possible - OPFOR player support.
  • Possible - ACE Wounds support.
  • New PO2/MPSF Features
Future Missions:
  • Investigate insurgent activity.
  • Meet up with informant to obtain information.
  • IED sighted and requires EOD. (Hearts and minds)
  • Deliver the package. (Backpack)
  • Escort and deliver precious cargo.
  • Secure helicopter crash site.
  • Hold and secure stronghold.
  • Escort Vip. ( A player will be selected randomly to play as a VIP - you will change!)
  • Recover precious cargo.
  • Raising militia support. (Convince milita to join your cause)
  • Eliminate AAA battery
  • Eliminate Mortar/Rocket site
  • Recover the general's lost lunchbox. (Joke)
Will require some helpers and EightySix's expertise to make these missions happen. Feel free to share some ideas and feedback.

Tossing up whether to up the play count to 3 full sized teams of 6. (Or have lots of 4 man teams)

Loving the new mode and can't wait for the new mission types. Some feedback from playing a few games on Hazar Kot; Objectives can spawn very close to one another, making it a bit chaotic at times. Also people without Lingor units can join but half the trucks are invisible to them. Ammoboxes aren't quite right, some replenish with basic stock, but others have more gear and don't replenish, often leading to a lack of 148's in particular. Getting stuck on the other side of the map with no vehicle sucks, any possibility of adding an MH6 for fast infil/exfil? Perhaps as a reward for completing the missions within extra criteria eg. within a window of opportunity or with no casualties etc. Sort of like reward vehicles for Side missions in Domi. Could add a bit more depth and variation from the PO formula and also it would make vehicles a much more valuable asset if you have to earn anything over the basic Humvee. Team size is good IMO, Maybe add another team as it got full and some people were unable to join. Very excited for adding SAS, maybe set it up Alpha- US Bravo- UK etc.

It's late, I'm rambling. This mission is quality stuff, cheers Davo.

Looking good so far, With the toss up Four man groups are super tight knit for the smaller more silent work and 6'ers for the larger scale assault ops. if we can utilise both for seperate occasions it would be great.

Cheers man. keep it up.

Ren.

I'm really digging the scale of Spec Patrol Ops. It works better than with the smaller number of players we get, yet still scales well when we get 10+, where as PO isn't the best when you're running less then ten.

Its not very pub friendly, though at the same time it removes the chance of wild-card assets and is much more in-line with how the TAC's run.

My biggest gripe is the concentration of hostiles. They are usually glomped ontop of their base, patrolling aimlessly in large circles. That and making better use of the towns/pre-existing structures. How you'd go about this given the 'random' nature of the framework, I dunno, but having to assault a supply depot thats nestled in the center of a town (Less keen on aerial strikes in a populated city center) seems more appropriate then having it dead center of a field.

That being said, I've had some awesome runs in Spec Ops. Last nights massacre at Sharq' hill was pretty intense.

Any ideas which map I should make these units for? Thinking I want a green map for these guys and UKSF. Looking at doing german KSK on Capraia and ACR on the ACR expansion map.

Still can't get enough of SpecOps, those MH-60K's on Tora Bora really open up the gameplay. Just had a bug to report, not sure if this is the place to do it, but anyway. On Tora Bora I've noticed that missions will spawn at any named map location, not just towns. eg. 'Silwa Valley' or even the 'Tora Bora by Chill' in the bottom right. This works pretty well for most mission types, but if a mission to find the weapon cache spawns here, the caches are nowhere to be found, I'm guessing it's because they usually spawn in buildings and there are none at these locations.

Also, maybe Utes for UKSF? Haven't seen a mission on there before, could be a nice change of scenery and chance to break out the boats.

Edit: Forgot how tiny Utes is, maybe Panthera or Bystrica.

The thing with those skins is Aus SF don't wear DPCU/DPDU anymore so you may aswell use multicam/ATAC skins
