Is there a minimum age requirement to join OCB?

18 or over please.  Well over 18 preferred

Do I have to be an elite skilled player to join OCB?

No!  We seek people who are team players, of good character that enjoy playing the games we play.  Your level of individual skill in game is irrelevant to us, what is most important is that you want to work as part of a team and have a mature attitude (regardless of your age).  Your skill level will improve over time with experience and training, which will make the games more enjoyable for you.

What Traits does OCB look for in new potential members?

  • Mature attitude
  • Ability to work as a member of a team
  • A good sense of humour
  • An ability to follow directions when in formal missions
  • A responsible attitude to maintaining our good reputation
  • A sense of dedication to the group and a commitment to build the group
  • A willingness to attend all unit training
  • A willingness to be professional and organised in tactical missions.
  • A general fit into the unit.  If you rub us the wrong way, or we rub you the wrong way, there won't be any position for you here.

If you intend to say in your application "I mainly play sniper or fly" - move on.  You are NOT what we are looking for.  I'm sure you can find a twelvie clan out here that would be happy to add another sniper or pilot to their team that's already full of snipers and pilots.

What other games do members play together?

OCB Members play a large number of other games together, including, Rising Storm 2 Vietnam, Arma III, Battlefield One and 4, Left for Dead 2, Flight Sim X, GTA IV/V, Mount & Warblade, Planet Side, Guild Wars 2, WoW, War Thunder, Eve, PayDay 2, Day of Infamy, Insurgency, Rocket League, UT4 and everything in between. It's normally safe to say that if you play it, someone else in OCB will also play it and they will want to get together with you online to play it.

Is OCB a Milsim Clan?

No.  We have a rank structure based on experience, but we are not a milsim unit.  Our operations employ realistic tactics and communications, and we operate in a professional manner in our missions.   That does not mean we refer to each other by rank or bark orders at people.  If you're seeking a MILSIM that scratches the itch you had because you were unable to join the defence force and you want to experience to have a realistic military career here, keep moving, we are not for you.  We have current and former ADF members in OCB, so we don't need nor do we want that milsim stuff.

How active do I have to be?

We expect that you will make time to play with your team mates on a regular basis for the game you play. If you know you are going to be absent for an extended period, you need to let us know and you'll be moved to the inactive list until you come back. Prolonged absences without advice may result in dismissal.  We have tactical operations on a regular basis, as well as training.  There is an expectation that you will make the effort to attend these events.

Can I be in another clan, or stay in my old clan and still join OCB?

No.  We expect that if you want to join OCB that you are here to get into what we are doing and not divide your time between us and another community.

Can anyone apply to join?

If you are 18 or over, have a stable broadband connection, voice communications capability and you are not a jerk, we'd be happy to have you with us.  You need to demonstrate and maintain a positive and mature attitude.  Please refer to the section on what we are seeking in potential members.

What is the recruitment process involve?

1. You need to register an account on this site
2. You need to complete an application to join at the "Join OCB" under the "About Us" link at the top of the main web page.

It's a great idea to spend some time in game with us and use our Team Speak server (syd.streamlineserver.com:10033) or Discord (https://discord.me/ocb)

While waiting for an answer to your application!

a. Play on our servers for the game you play
b. Join our team speak or discord server and get to know the OCB members
c. Be active in playing

If you do not do these things, it is unlikely your application will be successful.

How long does the recruitment process take?

Normally no longer than a week. If it is taking longer than a week, it may be because we haven't seen your around our TS or forums, and we may consider you've lost interest.

Is there a probationary period?

Yes. A period of not less than four weeks applies from join date.  This is just to make sure you are not in the "too tard basket"

How does the promotion system work?

Promotion in OCB is based on demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities of a ranked position, time in service and dedication. We do not promote based on time in service alone, you must demonstrate those other qualities mentioned as well.

Some Important Points

If you have applied to join OCB, and we have never seen you in our game or voice servers, we'd be inclined to believe that you really haven't done your homework, aren't really interested in the group and therefore, if this is you, expect a very swift answer to your application in the negative.   Every application is assessed by the Senior OCB members, and if they don't know you or have never seen you, don't waste your time or ours by applying.
