The 6th BN, RAR is deployed to Nui Dat, a strategic location which is between viet cong areas and supply routes and the local population. Our mission is to conduct patrolling tasks to disrupt the enemy and stabilise the area.
TOPO: Forest and jungle. Tracks and roads, villages and larger towns.
EN: The Viet Cong are a semi organised group of local communists who want to overthrow the corrupt SVN government. They have small arms but little else. They are ingenious and they produce booby traps of various types.
There are also NVA elements in the area as indicated by intelligence from the SAS patrols. They are better armed and trained that the Viet Cong Guerrillas. The enemy in this area are unlikely to flee, they will stand and fight and advance on us in a contact. They have also attacked our base on a number of occasions and have stolen vehicles and weapons.
FR: Our forces comprise an infantry platoon and are supported by 2 Troop from the SAS. We have access to a large pool of resources. RAAF 9th SQN is situated in our 1 ATF Base to provide air support. We also have fire support from 161st Battery RNZA. RAAF Base is also located and Vung Tao to the south and can be called upon to provide fast air support if required.
CIV: There are local civilians, do not engage them.
INTEL: An escalation of enemy radio chatter indicates there is possibly an enemy build up in the area, however there is no solid information to support this. Enemy radio positions have been triangulated and tracked approaching the 1 ATF Base from the East. SAS recon patrols have not located any significant formations in the area. It is however known that D445 VC battalion is located in the area, mainly operating south of 1ATF Base.
To seek out and close with the enemy, to kill or capture him. To seize ground and repel attack, by day or night, regardless of weather or terrain.
Infantry section will be assigned upon entry into the AO. (Callsign 1.1) Commander will assign a section commander for the section and it's members.
SAS Element will also be assigned (callsign 2.0). Commander will assign a section commander for the section and it's members.
Air will be provided by 2 pilots (nominated at start - or if insufficient numbers, we will have one) X-Ray 1 and 2. Fast air reaper 1 and 2 if needed. Commander will nominate pilots. (Keep in mind some of the aircraft have issues pulling out of a dive - you have been warned)
