Posted By Valour on 30 May 2013 - 03:09 PM

To celebrate Online Combat Battalion's 4th birthday, we invite all players, OCB and public, to jump in our Vanilla Arma 2 server for some good old fashioned Ruski bashing.

No mods required, as this is an event taking us back to the old days of just getting as many people into a server as possible and planning our operations on the fly. Hope to have a good turnout.

Soldiers of Misfortune Part II: Fireforce

Soldiers of Misfortune Part II: Fireforce

April 1974, Rhodesia:

The ZANLA raids on the Altena and Whistlefield farms in December of '72 marked the beginning of the Bush War proper and Communist Terrorist (CT) attacks have only intensified over the last 16 months. Terrorists continue to cross our borders, performing farms raids and ambushing vehicles, then disappearing in to the bush before Rhodesian security forces can react. While the terrorists receive training and equipment from their Communist allies in neighbouring nations, Rhodesia still struggles under the sanctions imposed on her by the UN. Meanwhile, across the border, Portuguese Mozambique is losing the war against the FRELIMO Communist movement and ZANLA Cadres cross the boarder with little opposition.

Out of necessity, a new form of Counter Insurgency is developed, known as 'Fireforce'. The Fireforce is a quick reaction force, called in by trackers, OP's or the Selous Scouts to respond to enemy sightings and ambushes. Fireforce consisted of 4 man sticks (Stops), carried by G-Car helicopters with a command/gunship K-Car and a "Lynx" callsign providing CAS.
On arrival at a contact area, a troop commander, aboard the K-Car, would deploy his Stop groups in to blocking positions, cutting off the enemies ability to withdraw, while using remaining Stops to sweep the contact area and kill the enemy, or drive them in to the blocking forces. The troop commander, aboard the K-Car, would circle around the contact area, coordinating the sweep from above in addition to providing fire support with the K-Car's 20mm cannon. The G-Cars, when not being used for CASEVAC or resupply, would provide additional fire support with the tech's door gun. Firefroce is quickly becoming the main action of the RLI.

1 Commando, 1st Battalion, Rhodesian Light Infantry has been stationed at Forward Airfield 3 (FAF3) in the Centenary region as part of the continuing Operation Hurricane.

Situation:

E: Attacks have increased over the past few months, with the CT's becoming more audacious in their raids. ZANLA continue to operate in the North East of the country, using Mozambique as a safe haven. ZANLA's numbers have bolstered recently, with new recruits coming in from Mozambique. ZANLA typically operate in small Cadres of about 6-12, but are known to form larger groups at times. ZANLA are supplied by the Soviets and are often armed with AK47's, RPD light machine guns and RPG 7's. CT's will typically travel using river beds, valleys, tree lines and paths to navigate.

F: 1st Commando, RLI supported by the Rhodesian Airforce are stationed at FAF3, standing by for Fireforce callouts.

C: The centenary are is highly populated, with a large community of European farmers in addition to the local tribes. Locals are generally cooperative towards the Rhodesian security forces, however the CT's are known to use violence to force the locals in to providing them food, intel or even new recruits. The CT's are a cruel to the local tribesman as they are to the white settlers.

T: The Centenary region is a vast expanse of dense bush, with small farming communities and villages dotted across the landscape, the Ruya river to the South is used as a route for ZANLA to travel in to Rhodesia from Mozambique.

Mission:

1st Commando, RLI and attached Airforce personnel are to perform Fireforce duties within the Area of Operations, Centenary. The aim of the Fireforce is to react to contacts and capture or kill the enemy while protecting the local population.

Execution:

Phase 1 – On report of enemy contact, Fireforce elements are to move to the contact area via helicopter.

Phase 2 – Upon arrival at the contact area, the Fireforce commander will deploy Stop groups in to blocking positions, anticipating the enemies most likely avenue of escape.

Phase 3 – The Fireforce commander will deploy the remaining Stops in to a sweep line (multiple sweep lines may be formed, depending on the situation). The sweep line will clear the contact area, eliminating the enemy, or driving them in to the blocking positions.

Phase 4 – A quick assessment of the enemy casualties, before lifting back to FAF3. Land Tail forces and Special Branch will remove enemy casualties once the contact area is clear.

Admin/Logistics:

4x “G-Car” Bell UH-1's, armed with twin M240's, carrying 4 passengers, crewed by a pilot and a tech(door gunner).

1x “K-Car” Bell UH-1, armed with a HE 20mm MG 151 cannon, carrying Fireforce commander, crewed by a pilot and a tech.

1x Hawker Hunter Fighter/Bomber, armed with 20mm main gun and 500lb bombs.

Reinforcements are available from FAF3. (Read: respawns).

Additional ammunition is available at FAF3, under the cam net. Stick leaders can adjust loadouts as required.

Aircraft are in low supply, do not lose them. Aircraft service vehicles are available at FAF3 as well as at FAF4, outside our AO.

Due to previous instances of self perscription and substance abuse, it is SOP that only qualified medics and stick leaders carry Morphine vials.

Command/Signal:

Stick leaders and Fireforce commander are issued with AN/PRC 155 manpack radios.

G-Car and K-Car helicopters are equipped with LR radios with headsets for pilots and techs.

Fireforce commander has tactical command of both ground and air call signs, but may give command of a sweep line to a stick leader as needed.

EP. 1: The Elbe Incursion

64 SLOT CO-OP
TEAMSPEAK: ocbservers.net
SERVER: TBA

INTEL

SITUATION:

As of the 15th of July, 2016 at 2130HRS UTC, forces of the New Soviet Army (NSovA) have invaded Poland, The Czech Republic, and the eastern regions of Germany. They have pushed through Berlin and have crossed the Elbe River.. At this time, NATO Intelligence has established that there are elements of the NSovA encamped along the eastern approach into the town of Groß Malchau. NATO SIGINT has reported back that the Russians will be attempting to push through the Probian Plains region for their advance on Hamburg and Bremerhaven.

According to the latest RSTA reports enemy forces are estimated to be between 30-40 enemy armoured vehicles, including T-90 & T-72 tanks, and approx 60-80 infantry. Their possible course of action is to commit to an full frontal advance through the region towards Schwemlitz in order to gain control of Bundesstraße 191 and establish an MSR.

At the moment a sizeable Task Force, TF SAXONY, consisting of elements of from the US Army's 1st Armored Division and the German Army's 21st Panzer Brigade (Panzerbrigade 21). TF Saxony is currently encamped along Bundesstraße 191 outside the town of Bruchwedel.

MISSIONS:

This mission will be a multi-phase mission in three phases. TF Saxony's mission is to eliminate enemy forces situated in and around the Probien Plains region.

EXECUTION:

A) Commanders Intent

The overall mission for Stage 1 of Operation Kristall Palast is to regain control of the Probien Plains area, and prevent further build up or reinforcement of NSovA forces. Removing their mobile command post and communications system will severely reduce their ability to request reinforcements from their units in reserve. The desired end-state for this stage of the operation is to regain control of the major villages and outlying hamlets within the Probien Plains region.

ADMINISTRATION:
Elements of TF Saxony will be brief of the TF's course of action on the night of the mission.

EPW: Due to the early states of the conflict, no immediate plans exist for the management and housing of EPW's. If enemy forces surrect, detain and advise HQ accordingly.
MED: TF Medical Team will be available on call over the command net.
RESUP: Support section will have available in-field replenishment for vehicles, however infantry elements will have limited ammunition, with stores available in their Stryker Vehicles.

COMMAND & SIGS:

Callsigns & RATEL instructions will be given at briefing time.

NOTES:

1. MODS REQUIRED

(NB: OCB MEMBERS THE MAP & UNITS MOD IS AVAILABLE ON KEV'S)

2. RULES
  • Priority will be given to those who have RSVP'd to the event. The maximum is 64 positions.

[86]Operation Seven Steps - Co-op
friendly fire isn't

Mission is open to the following: OCB, CTB, AAF Members

Scenario 18 August 2013 - Written By: Eightysix

Situation: After the treaty signing catastrophe (now known as the "Red Treaty"), the CDF suffered a major loss of the eastern coast opening up the road to Chernagorsk. A move the ChDKZ planned on and moved quickly to attack the city. With the south east border collapsing, the northern border divisions prepare to push south and must choose between holding certain positions or advancing on the enemy to cripple their attack.

EN:

The ChDKZ have played dirty and struck the CDF at a vulnerable point. With dwindling supplies from Russia, they are advancing without regard of defence.

FR:

The CDF have lost a major supply depot and the USMC are unable to send support at this time. With a good hold on the northern line, backed by armour, the CDF Infantry forces can play a pivotal role in striking at the ChDKZ supply lines but may risk their own in doing so.

CIV:

Civilians are abundant as many arrived back when the treaty was being announce. Since then, they are trapped by an escalating war und unable to flee the area.

ENV:

Chernarus is wooded, cold and dark. With the storm, comes the lightning.

Mission

Keep the supply lines of the CDF secure. There have been several targets of opportunity that will cripple the ChDKZ attack however it is likely any defences will increase greatly should any be attacked.

Execution

Advance into enemy territory, identify high value targets and conduct a synchronised attack to prevent them from having a chance to bolster their defences.
